While Martha’s Vineyard is well-known for its beautiful beaches and summertime activities, locals know that the island comes alive with the magic of the holiday season.
Here are 5 festive things to do on Martha’s Vineyard Vineyard during the holidays:
Christmas In Edgartown
Christmas in Edgartown has been voted Best of the Vineyard for the last three years for good reason. This year, the weekend of festivities takes place from Dec. 9-11 and will feature family favorites like photos with Santa at the Harbor View, the 24th Annual Arts & Crafts Festival at the Edgartown School, the Christmas In Edgartown Parade, and the Family Dance-O-Rama at the Vineyard Square Hotel.
Decorate Gingerbread Houses
Join the folks at the Vineyard Haven Public Library to decorate gingerbread houses on Thurs. 12/15 from 3:30-4:30pm. This popular annual event is free open to children 5 years and older.
Wintery Songs In Eleventy Part Harmony
The Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse and 88.7FM have partnered to bring you a musical performance featuring singer/songwriter Jennifer Kimball and friends performing a medley of classic secular and spiritual songs. This event is perfect for all ages and is a great way to get in the spirit of the season. This event will take place Dec. 17 at 7:30pm at the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse in Vineyard Haven.
Winter Solstice Stargazing
Welcome in the official start of the winter season by stargazing at the Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary on Wed. 12/21 from 6-8pm. This free event will feature a local astronomer to point out constellations and delicious holiday snacks and drinks.
Winter Scavenger Hunts
The Oak Bluffs Public Library will host a scavenger hunt for children, both readers and non-readers, with prizes for everyone who completes the challenge. This is a great event for children during December break. This event will take place Tues. 12/27 from 10am-7:30pm.
