Vineyard Haven is a charming, waterfront community nestled in the town of Tisbury on Martha’s Vineyard, although “Tisbury” and “Vineyard Haven” are often used interchangeably. Vineyard Haven is the Island's primary port, offering ferry service to and from the Massachusetts mainland year-round.
This quaint community was once the site of a prominent whaling station and features historic homes and buildings remaining from the 1800s. These days, Vineyard Haven is a vibrant island community rich in culture.
Community
The residents of Vineyard Haven are known to be friendly and welcoming, as many visitors to Martha’s Vineyard reach the Island by ferry through Vineyard Haven Harbor. Because of the village’s waterfront location, there is a prevalent boating/sailing scene. The Vineyard Haven Yacht Club is located along the shores of Vineyard Haven Harbor and offers members and guests access to sailing, tennis, and swimming.
This section of the Vineyard is well-known for its jovial summer culture, but the year-round residents know that this New England gem is a great place to live in all four seasons.

Attractions
Owen Park Beach
Owen Park Beach is located very close to the town center and ferry port, making it one of the Island’s most easily accessible beaches.
West Chop Light
This iconic lighthouse is located in the West Chop neighborhood and has helped guide boats to Martha’s Vineyard for almost 200 years. The original lighthouse was built in 1817 and the current tower was constructed in 1891.
Martha’s Vineyard Film Center
The Martha’s Vineyard Film Center is a very popular destination for both tourists and year-round residents. This cultural hub is owned and operated by the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society, a non-profit arts organization. The Film Center features a modern, 177-seat digital cinema, and a lovely art gallery. The Film Society also operates the historic Capawock Theatre in downtown Vineyard Haven.
Martha's Vineyard Seafaring Center
The Martha’s Vineyard Seafaring Center is located in downtown Vineyard Haven and features a variety of memorabilia and artifacts from the area’s storied history.
Mink Meadows Golf Club
This semi-private, 9-hole golf course is located just a few minutes from the Island’s northern shoreline. Mink Meadows' beautiful course can be played at 9- or 18-hole experience, and is great for both beginners and experts. The people at Mink Meadows are very friendly and everyone is united by their common passion for the game and love of Martha’s Vineyard.

The Black Dog Tavern
The Black Dog Tavern is one of Martha’s Vineyard’s most famous restaurants. It’s harborfront location, laid back atmosphere, and delicious food combine to make this a local favorite. The Black Dog restaurant is committed to serving Martha’s Vineyard -- that’s why it was the first restaurant on the Island to be open year-round.
Artcliff Diner
The Artcliff Diner is a classic destination for breakfast, brunch, and lunch on the Vineyard. This adorable little restaurant has an excellent menu featuring creative takes on American classics. Also, keep an eye out for the Artcliff Diner food truck, which serves up some of the restaurant's most popular offerings across the Island.
Copper Wok
The Copper Wok is a stylish, Asian-inspired restaurant and sushi bar. This restaurant is great for a night out with friends and family because of the lively and fun atmosphere. If you are a sushi fan, there is no better place on Martha’s Vineyard to get a roll.
